Chief Technology Officer
Dr. Jason Orcutt is Chief Technology Officer at Anderon, leading the development of differentiated foundry wafer technologies that support the quantum computing industry’s growth and scalability. He defines the company’s R&D roadmap, focusing on new capabilities and process improvements that enhance qubit performance, manufacturability, and yield.
Throughout his career, Dr. Orcutt has applied advanced semiconductor manufacturing technologies to emerging applications. As a graduate student, he pioneered “zero-change” photonic integration in advanced CMOS processes, a technology later commercialized by Ayar Labs. After joining IBM in 2013, he helped bring silicon photonics into manufacturing through GlobalFoundries while advancing research in sensing, communications, and quantum optics.
Dr. Orcutt has led innovations in superconducting qubit technologies, including co-inventing LASIQ and advancing quantum networking, two-qubit gates, and scalable system architectures. In 2022, he initiated IBM work on microwave quantum interconnects, a key technology for modular quantum computing.
Most recently, Dr. Orcutt led a team advancing gate and readout performance for quantum processors. He also served as the IBM principal investigator for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Superconducting Quantum Materials and Systems (SQMS) Center.
Dr. Orcutt received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from MIT. As of 2026, he holds 97 U.S. patents and has co-authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications with over 8,500 citations.
